What is Zirconium?

In its natural state, zirconium is a silver-grey color. It earns its stark black appearance through our proprietary heating process, in which a layer of hard black oxide grows on the metal. This black layer is much harder than raw zirconium, but it is very thin. Unlike oxidized silver and black rhodium, this layer does not rub off over time. It is also more durable than black-coated rings, such as black titanium and black tungsten.

Technical Details

Our zirconium rings are made using this same high-tech Zirconium alloy, which is comprised primarily of zirconium with a few trace elements. These unique combinations of metals make zirconium rings a perfect option for those with nickel and precious metal allergies and sensitivities.

CUSTOMIZATION & PERSONALIZATION

Zirconium rings offer endless options for design, style, and customization. These rings can be made in three-piece variations, inlaid various unique materials, laser carved, and formed in unique designs and shapes. Choose from any one of our popular styles or design your own black wedding ring with our Lashbrook Builder.

WEAR & CARE

Zirconium rings are hypoallergenic, lightweight, and comfortable. Zirconium rings should be treated as fine jewelry, and should be removed during harsh activities to avoid scratching.

Cleaning: Zirconium rings need no special care. These rings can be cleaned with regular jewelry cleaner, steam, or ultrasonic (refurbishment).

FAQs

Q: I’m really allergic to a variety of metals. How do I know that Zirconium won’t affect me?

Zirconium has a unique combination of metals that makes it a great option for those with metal sensitivities and allergies. It is hypoallergenic. We have never heard of anyone with a zirconium sensitivity or allergy.

Q: Is Zirconium only available in black?

No, actually there are two options. Black is the most common and sought after, but we can also finish it so it is a beautiful silver.

Q: Will Lashbrook Zirconium rings fade in color?

No. Our Zirconium is not coated with black. The color will not wear away or fade over time, but scratching is possible.

Q: What is Zirconium made from?

The Zirconium Lashbrook uses in making rings is made from an alloy which primarily includes Zirconium with hafnium, iron, niobum, and other trace elements.

Q: I scratched my Zirconium ring. What should I do?

Like all metals, Zirconium is subject to scratching. It is not as easily scratched as some metals, such as cobalt chrome and tungsten. Unlike these other metals, however, Zirconium is not as brittle. If you have scratched your Zirconium ring to the point that the base, silver metal is showing, then your ring can be sent in for refurbishment.
