Zr40 – a corrosion resistant metal found on the periodic table. Roughly 90% of zirconium production is used in nuclear power reactors and our zirconium rings are made using this same high-grade alloy.
Zirconium is naturally a silver-grey color. We create its stark black appearance by heating it to the temperature of a red-hot lava flow. Under this extreme heat a layer of hard, black oxide forms on the outside of the metal.
Zirconium is a great base metal because it pairs well with any of our other materials. You can dress it up with diamonds and gold, or keep it casual with cerakote and hardwood. It can be an all-black look or have contrasting light and dark tones. If a dark ring just isn’t your thing, zirconium makes a great accent as an inlay.
Zirconium rings are hypoallergenic, lightweight, and comfortable. Our zirconium rings are more durable than other black-coated options, such as black titanium and black tungsten, and the color will not fade or rub off over time. The black exterior is much harder than raw zirconium, but it is thin, so zirconium rings should be removed during harsh activities to avoid scratching.
Zirconium needs no special care. It can be cleaned with regular jewelry cleaner, steam, or ultrasonic. If you’ve scratched your ring to where the silver is showing it can be sent in for refurbishment.
